The days after Bjorn's workshop... Bonsai Generation 2016

The days after the Bjorn Bjorholm workshop @ Yama Bonsai were also pretty busy.
We drove back to Bonsai Focus so Bjorn could finish his tree, he did his magic on it and it became a amazing piece of work! The end-result will be visible in Bonsai focus after some time...

Afterwards we rushed back to Belgium so Bjorn could give a lecture @ Bonsai club Ju Sei Kai.
The lecture started with a video he made about red and black pines and the 2nd about maples, afterwards everyone could show his trees or ask questions so Bjorn could answer them.
It was very interesting, cause the videos and the way he explained the care about these species were very clearly!

The next morning (Tuesday) we had to drive 4 hours to Michael Tran of Minoru Bonsai for Bonsai Generation 2016.
We arrived 30 minutes before our demo started.

The days before Matt Reel that was an apprentice at Suzuki-san his garden and live in Portland (USA) did a very impressive demo on a Juniperus sabina .
Also the team of Spain EL Tim did some fabulous demos on some impressive Pinus sylvestris
And Walter Pall worked on a oriental hornbeam.

We started at 14.00h
Bjorn had a big Juniperus sabina for his demo that turned out into a very great tree.
JP Hoareau from the France worked on  massive larch triple trunk.
Marian Stoll a talented young guy who is a student of Michael Tran worked on a great Pinus sylvestris.
I worked on a Pinus sylvestris from Norway.

After the demonstrations we went out and had great fun together with everyone!

Wednesday JP and Marian worked further on their demo trees.
While Matt Reel and Bjorn Bjorholm got 2 trees they could refine as demo.

And myself

Stay tuned...

This was my demo tree, A scots Pine from Norway
on picture the tree looks less elegant than in real life.
The bark twists around the trunk line, with some shari here and there.

As for the styling I preferred this temporary cause i don't like to do major bends on one demo.
This delivered a elegant tree that has  a nice balance and where the flow goes beautifully to the right in trunk movement, most important branch and apex.
In future this tree will take more steps in the right direction.
Stay tuned...

Bjorn Bjorholm @ Yama Bonsai Studio Part 2

After a great workshop on Saturday it was time to go to bed early.
Cause Sunday around 9.30h the studio was full with eager Bonsai enthusiasts.

Bjorn first started to make his round to discuss the trees so everyone could get to work.
People worked firmly where after Ruben chef of Restaurant Resy's surprised us with his famous delicious Spareribs.
After everyone had eaten his belly full we could firmly go against it again to finish the trees at the end of the day with the guidance of Bjorn!
